What to do and not do when caring for a boil.

February 15th, 2010 . by admin

Boils are pretty gross.  They are infections from bacteria that fall inside of a hair follicle.  Boils are usually rounded, red, and painful.  A boil heals by draining out the puss that is gathering beneath the skin.  Popping or making an incision in the boil is foolish as it will likely make the infection worse.  The process of healing can be quickened by soaking the infected skin in warm water or applying a warm object to the sore.  Prevention of boils involves frequent washing to clean the bacteria off of the skin before it can get in the hair follicle.
