Learning About Tree Boxing In Arizona

September 3rd, 2010 . by admin

I knew absolutely nothing about tree boxing. Last weekend my family and I were at a plant nursery in Tuscon Arizona, and I told the proprietor that I had my heart set on a large Saguaro Cactus, the kind you always see in the old western movies. He did not have any in stock and said that it might be a few weeks before he could get one in, because his supplier had to locate one and then box it. Well, I had no clue what he meant by “boxing.” He kindly gave us a fascinating lesson about the history of tree boxing in Arizona. Now we can appreciate all the work that goes into transplanting one of these magnificent cacti, and we are anxiously awaiting the delivery of our Saguaro, which is to be planted in a prominent spot in our front yard.
