Even though we have a high ratio of exmormon relatives in our family, my brother, my sister, and I have stayed strong and we married spouses strong in the church. Sometimes we feel a little alone in the family and awkward at large family gatherings because most of our cousins have left. We try to be considerate of them by not bringing up church, but sometimes our exmormon cousins like to bring up controversial topics. I don’t know why they find that necessary. There are tons of things to talk about – music, food, hobbies, children, or even politics. But I prefer not to discuss politics because that can be rather explosive too.
