Gambling
December 24th, 2009 . by adminThe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is strongly opposed to all kinds of gambling. The Church teaches, through mormon doctrine, that gambling is evil because it stems from a desire to “get something for nothing.” Someone has to lose each time, though, and the addiction gambling holds has destroyed many good people and their families. Mormon doctrine further teaches that gambling can be a gateway sin, leading to many other, worse sins, like stealing in desperation to pay off gambling debts. The Church strongly encourages members to oppose the legalization of gambling in their communities and encourages members to not participate at all in the activity.
